Pentox® Green Wood Preservative,
Water Repellant, Primer/Sealer
General Information: Pentox® Green Wood Preservative, Water Repellant
Primer/Sealer product preserves against fungi and insect attack, and
imparts water repellency to wood and other cellulosic materials; it
prevents the movement of moisture. In order to attain maximum
protection it is important that sufficient product be applied. Clean,
natural wood and/ or pressure treated wood, has the advantage of
becoming also primed after the application of treated with Pentox®
Green product, and therefore can be painted over with a conventional
exterior stain or paint. Darker colours are recommended, since the
green colour will affect light coloured paint and stain. If left
unpainted, the green colour of the treatment will mellow with exposure
to sunlight, while the preserving properties of the treatment will
remain within the wood. Additional applications of Pentox®
Green product (on unfinished treated wood) will restore the colour and
reinforce the treatment.
Specification: Pentox® Green Wood Preservative, Water Repellant
Primer/Sealer product satisfies specifications for petroleum-solvent
copper naphthenate based wood preservatives. Contains 2.35% copper as
copper naphthenate and .075% Bis(tri-n-Butyltin) Oxide.
Uses: Apply to clean, dry wood, free from all
coatings, primers, oils, adhesives and dirt. Do not use on
wood exposed to living quarters or in saunas/hot-tubs.
Pentox® Green Wood Preservative, Water Repellant
Primer/Sealer product is suitable for horticultural applications; when
the applied product has thouroughly dried in the wood. Freshly treated
wood is known to repel wood chewing rodents for up to half a year.
Typical uses include: greenhouse
lumber, landscaping lumber, farm buildings, roofing frames and decking,
sub-flooring, construction framing,mine and excavation props, fences,
decks, steps, docks, open wooden boats, and, generally, wood in contact
with ground and water.
Nets, ropes, and tarpaulins (of natural cellulosic materials) may be
protected with Pentox® Green product, that has been reduced 1 to 1
with mineral spirits. Dry and air the treated fabric thoroughly until
there is no odour.
Properties: Coverage: 200-250 square feet/1US gln.,
depending on the porosity of the wood and treatment
depth desired. Apply by: brush, roller or dipping. Drying
time: minimum twelve hours before staining or painting.
Flash point: 42 Celsius (Fire Underwriters safe solvent).
Green Colour: may vary from batch to batch. Odour:
may linger for some time, depending on humidity,
temperature and ventilation.
Stability: does not freeze under normal conditions.
